Find your element, and the one you’re missing
Most “what’s my element” calculators only look at your birth year, so everyone born that year gets the same answer. Your Chinese birth chart reads the day and hour you were born.
- Your core element and what it says about you
- The element your chart is missing
- What it means for your work, love life and year ahead

Born in 1990? So were millions of other “Metal Horses”.
A year-only calculator gives one element to everyone born in the same twelve months. Chinese astrology was never meant to work that way. Your chart has eight characters, and the one that describes you changes every single day.
Your year starts in February
Chinese astrology turns the year at the start of spring, around 4 February, not on 1 January (and not always on Chinese New Year, which is the everyday reckoning). Born in January? Your animal may not be what you think.
Your day decides your element
Your Day Master comes from your exact birth day, so it is personal to you, not your whole generation.
Your hour follows the sun
We convert your birth time to true solar time at your birthplace and remove daylight saving, so the hour is the one the sun actually showed.
Lucky colours, numbers and careers by element
Every element has its own lucky colours, numbers, season and work. Your reading shows which ones are lucky for you.

Questions
Is my Chinese element just my birth year?
No. Your birth year gives the element of your zodiac year, which you share with everyone born between two Chinese New Years. Your own element, your Day Master, comes from the day you were born, and your full chart has eight characters from your year, month, day and hour. That is why two people born in the same year can read so differently.
Do I need my birth time?
It helps, but you can start without it. Your Day Master and six of your eight characters come from your birth date alone, so your reading is already meaningful. Your birth time completes the chart with the hour pillar, which can shift your element balance, and your birthplace lets us correct the hour to true solar time. If you don't know it, we read the six characters you have and never guess the hour.
What can my birth chart tell me?
Chinese astrology (BaZi, the Four Pillars of Destiny) reads your chart as a picture of your nature and your balance: the qualities you lead with, the elements you have plenty of and the ones you lack. From that it reads your fortune in the parts of life that matter: the work that suits you, the people who bring out your best, how each year's luck meets yours, and your lucky colours, numbers and directions.
What does my 2026–2027 Chinese horoscope cover?
Each Chinese year carries its own pair of elements: 2026 is the year of the Fire Horse, 2027 is the year of the Fire Goat. Your report reads how each year's elements meet the ones your chart needs, tells you whether it is a tailwind for you or a time to build steadily, and gives three practical ideas for each.
How accurate is the calculation?
As exact as we can make it. The year and month follow the 24 solar terms to the minute, the day and hour follow the sun at your birthplace, and daylight saving time is removed: details that many quick calculators skip. The reading follows the classical rules of BaZi, the same method Chinese astrologers have used for centuries to read a person's nature, luck and timing.
What do I get for $29?
A web report and a printable PDF with your Day Master, explained, work that suits you, love and friendship, your 2026–2027 Chinese horoscope, lucky colours, numbers and directions, your name and your chart, a Chinese name for your element, plus the calligraphy keepsake for the name you choose: seven brush styles, certificate, pronunciation audio, seal and wallpapers. One payment, no subscription.
Why does the report include a Chinese name?
In Chinese astrology a name is traditionally chosen to bring in the elements a birth chart needs: you carry it every day, so its characters keep those elements close. Your report reads the Chinese name you already have (or the usual Chinese spelling of your name) against your chart, character by character, then gives three names, two that keep the sound of your own name and one for meaning, from about 500 characters really used in Chinese names.
